HARD APPLE CIDER MOSCOW MULES

Once October hits I have entertaining on the brain. From Halloween parties, Friendsgivings, and Holiday festivities our social calendars fill up quickly. Unlike wedding season where at some point you have fewer weddings to attend as you get older, holiday season is an annual event throughout life.

When we host people at our home, typically Friendsgiving, I like to do a mixed drink and a wine. Now I will say I always have a small selection of liquor and beer on hand for those who prefer something neat or frosty, but overall a cocktail and wine will do perfectly.

A NOTE ON ROALD DAHL

It may be glutenous to favor the food genre of podcasts but I love listening to the recipes and practical kitchen tips you can pick up. America’s Test Kitchen has a great podcast that I look forward to each week. Almost all episodes are broken into multiple segments which typically include – the results of a gadget or ingredient test, Q&A with callers, an interview with a tastemaker in the food industry, and a recipe walk-through. This multi-segment approach helps the podcast feel fresh and makes it easy to tune out parts that may be less interesting. One of my favorite episodes features a beautiful interview with the late Roald Dahl’s wife, Felicity d’Abreu Crosland. (more…)

RECIPE FOR 2 – BREAKFAST TACOS

During the week D and I have fairly separate morning routines. Though both awake in the apartment, someone is always in the bathroom getting ready while the other is in the kitchen making breakfast. Since we don’t get too much time in the morning during the week, we typically take a moment on Sunday to enjoy a delicious breakfast together. If we happen to have had tacos the week prior, you can guarantee we are having Breakfast Tacos on Sunday.

EVERYONE NEEDS A BEFORE PICTURE

With our trip to Cancun right around the corner and so many weddings this summer I can hardly count, I have been trying to be better about eating right and exercising. In the past, I have tried crazy diets (smoothies for two weeks straight, what was I thinking?!) and aggressively hit the gym/workout classes. This time though, I decided to take baby steps and build a foundation for a healthier lifestyle.

CHAMPAGNE BEARS

Like most women, I love me some good champagne or prosecco. On my old blog I did a Champagne Tuesdays post, that is how much a love a crisp and sweet glass of bubbly. (more…)

COFFEE TABLE BOOKS

COFFEE TABLE BOOKS

We always end up traveling a bunch during the holidays. With this uptick in travel I try to keep on hand are few hostess gift ideas. My current favorite being, coffee table books. Not exactly sure where this obsession came from but I cannot go into a bookstore without making a beeline for the oversized hardcover book display. Fortunately, by gifting coffee table books I am able to indulge without feeling too guilty.
