With our trip to Cancun right around the corner and so many weddings this summer I can hardly count, I have been trying to be better about eating right and exercising. In the past, I have tried crazy diets (smoothies for two weeks straight, what was I thinking?!) and aggressively hit the gym/workout classes. This time though, I decided to take baby steps and build a foundation for a healthier lifestyle.

Keeping to 2 snacks and 3 meals a day that are high in fiber and protein, cleaning up my eating has been easier than I had expected. The exercising part is another story. In high school and college I ran 3 miles 3-4 times a week. It was a great way to stay active and gave me time with my thoughts. Since it has been some time since I have been that active, I decided to start by running 1 song and walking 1 song for 2 miles.

It may not seem like much, but by the end I am sweating like crazy and it is manageable for me to keep up without getting discouraged and ending the run early. After 2 weeks of this I am upping my run time and running 2 songs and walking 1. Slowly but surely I will get back to my confident self!
